Doug Ritchie - Non Executive Director

Doug Ritchie boasts over 40 years of distinguished experience in the resources sector, including a 27-year tenure at Rio Tinto, where he significantly influenced the company’s mining and energy operations across Australia and internationally. As Chief Executive of Rio Tinto Coal Australia, he managed a portfolio of eight major mining assets in Queensland and New South Wales, overseeing one of the world’s largest coal operations. In senior roles such as Managing Director of Strategy and Chief Executive of the Energy Product Group, Doug drove Rio Tinto’s global energy strategy, aligning export operations with escalating demand. Following his retirement from Rio Tinto, he continued to shape the sector as a Non-Executive Director at Bravus, contributing to strategic coal and energy decisions, and as a Director of the World Coal Association. He also chaired the Coal Industry Advisory Board for the International Energy Agency, delivering high-level insights to industry stakeholders.

Doug currently serves as Chairman of Metro Mining Ltd and Non-Executive Director of Neometals Ltd. A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he previously held a directorship at the Queensland Resources Council.
